Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at jill@foundations.llc if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Occupational therapists work with individuals to assess their abilities and limitations, develop treatment plans, and provide interventions aimed at improving their ability to perform daily activities, participate in meaningful interactions, and manage their environment to the highest level of independence.

YES!  Mobile outpatient therapy services are covered by Medicare Part B and other insurances that pay for outpatient therapy no matter where the therapy is provided.

Currently, we accept Medicare Part B and secondary plans, SD Medicaid, Medica, Wellmark.

We also accept private pay for services not covered by Medicare or insurances, such as fitness/wellness, and home accessibility consultations that are for general aging in place.

No, that is no longer true.  On January 1, 2018 Medicare removed the cap on the amount of therapy that can be billed for outpatient therapy. Medicare continues to require that outpatient therapy services be medically necessary in order to be paid for by Medicare. Documentation of that requirement is the responsibility of the therapist, not the patient.

NO!  You do not have to be considered homebound or have a face-to-face visit with your doctor to receive occupational therapy services at home.  OT can be provided to you, at home, as an outpatient.  Our mobile outpatient OT services are billable to your Medicare Part B or other insurance.

No.  If you are 1) considered to be homebound 2) and are having a nurse, PT, OT, or ST under a "skilled home health" plan of care, and 3) services are being billed to your Medicare Part A, you cannot also have outpatient therapy at the same time.  If, after you've been completely discharged from home health care, and you continue to need OT services, your doctor can write an order for outpatient OT and fax to our office.

YES!  If you have any services coming to your home, that are NOT paid for by Medicare, or if you are seeing a PT or ST as an outpatient, you CAN have OT services at home with Foundations.

At this time, Foundations does not accept clients under the age of 18.
